Kisah Zeng berawal di tahun 1999 ketik dirinya masih berumur 20 tahun yg masuk dlm sekolah penerbangan di provinsi Heilongjiang. Tapi keluarganya tak bisa membayar sebesar 5000 yuan sebagai biaya masuk sekolah untk awal tahun ajaran baru. Hal tersebut membuat dirinya untk memutuskan pergi ke Shenyang dgn bermodalkan 50 yuan untk mencari pekerjaan.
Pada tahun 2006 akhirnya ia menikah dan mencari rumah bagi keluarga kecilnya. Karena sulitnya mencari tempat tinggal di kota metropolitan dgn harga yg tinggi, seorang temannya menyarankan bahwa satu hotel memiliki toilet pria yg sudah tak pernah digunakan dan mungkin saja pemilik hotel mengijinkan Zeng untk tinggal disana dgn membayar sewa.
Setelah menyepakati sewa dgn pemilik hotel, keluarga kecil Zeng pindah ke rumah barunya yg berupa sebuah toilet dgn luas 20 meter persegi. Di rumah tersebut selain bersama istrinya, Zeng kini telah dikaruniai seorang anak laki-laki yg berena Zeng Dei, yg mempunyai arti "beruntung" dan diharapkan ia bisa memberikan keberuntungan kepada keluarganya.

Lingering: Although the family say they are satisfied with their home they have to flush the toilet regularly to wash away any odours from the in-use lavatory block on the floor above
